Kellyanne Conway Backtracks On Donald Trump's Taxes, Says They'll Come Out After Audit

After saying Sunday that the president will not release his tax returns, she tweeted an amendment to this position on Monday.

Will President Donald Trump release his tax returns? Having eschewed the accepted practice of all modern presidential candidates of making the documents public during the campaign, it's a question that's still on a lot of minds.

So when Kellyanne Conway, a senior counselor to the president and his former campaign manager, said on ABC News' "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos, that Trump "is not going to release his tax returns," this was reported as news.

However, Monday morning, Conway tweeted out that her statement was not news at all and it didn't diverge from her stated position during the campaign:

However, this is not what she said to Stephanopoulos.

"He is not going to release his tax returns," Conway said on "This Week." "We litigated this all through the election. People didn't care; they voted for him."

There's no indication in this, or in the rest of her appearances on the show, that the tax returns would be forthcoming.
