Kids Tossed From Apartment Building Fire; At Least 10 People Injured

The blaze burned early Wednesday morning.

At least 10 people were injured, many from having to jump to safety, after an apartment fire Wednesday morning raged in northwest Harris County, according to fire officials.

The fire damaged 24 apartment units, and the cause is still under investigation, according to a Harris County Fire Marshal press release.

Witnesses to the fire described a dramatic scene to KHOU, including children being tossed from a second-story balcony and caught by people on the ground. Others jumped from the third floor.

One man pushed his mattress out of a third-floor window, and he and his two children jumped onto it to escape, according to ABC 13.

One resident broke his foot jumping from a third-floor balcony, KHOU reported.
