Lindsey Graham Drops Out Of Republican Presidential Race

The senator's announcement narrows the GOP.

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham is dropping out of the Republican presidential race, he announced in a video message posted Monday morning to Twitter.

“Today, I’m suspending my campaign for president,” Graham said in the video. “I want to thank everyone who has taken this journey with me. You have honored me with your support.”

Graham registered no more than one percent support in any poll in a crowded GOP field, according to data from RealClearPolitics.

A retired Air Force colonel, Graham touted his foreign policy experience, including his relationship with Arizona Senator John McCain, but never gained much traction in the polls and never graduated to the main GOP debate stage.

“With Senator Lindsey Graham’s announcement, Republicans lost our most qualified, thoughtful, fearless and honest presidential candidate,” McCain said in a statement Monday.
