NATIONAL COVERAGE

Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island are voting Tuesday. They're states that wouldn't get much fanfare in a normal election year but, as has been well established, this is no normal year. While they might not finalize the nominee, Tuesday's primaries will move the needle.

PENNSYLVANIA

Polls showed Donald Trump leading Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz on the Republican side headied into election day while the Democrats showed a tigher race, with HIllary Clinton ahead of Bernie Sanders.

MARYLAND

Turnout was relatively light Tuesday during business hours as Maryland voters cast their ballots -- most likely for Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton if the latest polls in the presidential contests are accurate.

CONNECTICUT

Voting is underway in Connecticut in the 2016 presidential primary and there is already a large turnout at the polls. The somewhat gloomy weather could not keep voters away from the polls but it might have had an affect on volunteer turnout.

Frontrunners Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton lead over their opponents although Clinton's lead over Bernie Sanders, the self-described Democratic socialist, is very narrow.

RHODE ISLAND

Turnout is expected to be strong this year thanks to a highly-competitive race between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders in the Democrat contest and kinetic energy surrounding Donald Trump after his big rally in Warwick yesterday. It's also the one of the few primaries in recent history during which the Ocean State is actually a battleground.

DELAWARE

The state's polls were open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. local time on April 26.

State polling in Delaware has been few and far between, but the latest poll showed a much closer race on the Democratic side than the Republicans.
