Man Arrested For Robbing Subway With 2 Curling Irons

No, that's not a gun.

The Dallas Police Department arrested a man who it says robbed a Subway restaurant with two curling irons.

Police said that Arrieus Warren walked into the Subway on West Kiest Boulevard and demanded money from the cash register, gesturing to the cashier that he had a gun under his hoodie.

Once he had his money, police said, he fled and ran to a neighborhood where he attempted to carjack somebody. The would-be victim noticed Warren was not actually carrying a gun and Warren bolted, police said.

When officers got to the neighborhood, witnesses told them they saw someone run to a nearby shed, police said. They spotted him and “after making eye contact with the officers,” he fled again.

Police set up a perimeter and found him “in no time,” they said, at which point they found him carrying the money he had stolen but no gun.

Instead, Warren was carrying “a pair of curling irons that he had used to portray as a gun,” police said.

He was arrested and charged with three counts of robbery and one count of evading arrest.
