Mississippi Republican Primary Results: Donald Trump Declared Winner

Mississippi voters were choosing between Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and John Kasich.

Update: 8:41 p.m.

Trump was called the winner just about 30 minutes after polls closed, so the state goes chalk, with Hillary Clinton taking home a commanding lead in Mississippi too.

Mississippi voters gave Donald Trump another primary win, as CNN called the race for the real estate developer shortly after polls closed.

Polls opened across the state at 7 a.m. CST and closed at 7 p.m.

If state polling is any indication, Trump should extend his lead in the race for the Republican nomination for president.

A poll from Y’all Politics had the real estate developer with 41 percent support among likely Republican primary voters in Mississippi. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz had 17 percent, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio 16 percent and Ohio Gov. John Kasich 8 percent.

The poll was conducted on February 29 and had a margin of error of 3.1 percent.

Mississippi Rep. Gregg Harper has endorsed Kasich.

Heading into Tuesday, Trump led the field nationally in pledged delegates with 384, followed by Cruz with 300, Rubio with 151 and Kasich with 37.
