National Donut Day 2024 Deals: Here’s Where To Score Free Doughnuts

ACROSS AMERICA — Friday is National Doughnut (Donut) Day — and many bakeries will be doling out the sweet treat for free.

The holiday was created by the Salvation Army in 1938 to recognize the “Donut Lassies,” who had served pastries to soldiers on the front lines during World War I.

New York City claims to be the birthplace of doughnuts, a Dutch food introduced by the colonists in 1624 as olykoeks, or “oily cakes,” in Manhattan — at the time still called New Amsterdam.

But enough history. You want to know where to score free doughnuts (all deals are for Friday only unless otherwise specified):

Dapper Doughnut is offering six free cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar doughnuts with any purchase Friday through Sunday. The Denver-based chain also has locations in Florida, Nevada and Texas and is expanding into more states.

Duck Donuts, which started in North Carolina's Outer Banks and how has more than 100 locations nationwide, is offering free cinnamon sugar doughnuts to in-store customers.

Dunkin’ customers will receive a free classic doughnut of their choice with the purchase of any beverage. The chain has more than 9,150 locations nationwide.

Honey Dew Donuts, a Massachusetts-based chain with shops in New Hampshire and Rhode Island, is offering a free doughnut with the purchase of any medium beverage.

Krispy Kreme, which has about 355 locations nationwide, is offering customers their favorite doughnut free of charge, with no purchase required. Limited time offerings, such as the Dolly Parton Southern Sweets” collection, are excluded; however, in-store customers can pick up a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for $2 off.

LaMar’s Donuts, a Midwest chain, is offering a free Ray’s Original Glazed doughnut to in-store customers.

Maverick/Kum & Go is offering loyalty club members half off all doughnuts on Friday, with a limit of 10 per customer. Maverick, which recently acquired Kum & Go, has stores in 20 states.

Sheetz, a Pennsylvania-based convenience store with locations in five other states, is giving away a free doughnut with the purchase of any Sheetz Bros. coffee or ready-to-drink coffee. The deal goes Friday through Sunday, with a limit of one doughnut per customer.

Shipley Do-Nuts is offering its hot Glazed Do-Nut with any purchase. The deal is good in the store or online with the code DONUTDAY24 while supplies last. The Texas-based chain has locations throughout the South and Southeast.

Stan’s Donuts, a Chicago-based chain with locations throughout the Greater Chicago area, is giving out free chocolate-dipped doughnuts with every purchase — and if the pastry is colored pink inside, the winner wins free doughnuts for a year. Details are on the shop’s Instagram page.

Tim Hortons, which has more than 650 coffee shops in 11 states, is offering its rewards members a free doughnut on their next visit if they buy any doughnut in the app or online this week.

Voodoo Doughnut, which expanded nationwide from a single shop that operated for more than 20 years in Portland, Oregon, is releasing a limited-time Pink Raised Glazed Dozen box of 13 doughnuts for $10.
