Plus: Netflix subscriptions soaring, another global temperature record and more.
Good morning, Patchers. Here's what you need to know on this Thursday morning.
GEORGE H. W. BUSH, WIFE BARBARA REMAIN HOSPITALIZED
The 41st president and his wife remained hospitalized as of Wednesday night. Bush was suffering from a respiratory problem related to his pneumonia. Barbara Bush was admitted out of precaution for "fatigue and coughing." The Bush family patriarch was not scheduled to attend Friday's inauguration, having previously cited health concerns. George W. Bush is still planning to be in Washington tomorrow. (The New York Times)

RICK PERRY DIDN'T UNDERSTAND ENERGY SECRETARY'S DUTIES

2016 SETS (ANOTHER) GLOBAL TEMPERATURE RECORD
NASA said Wednesday that 2016 was the hottest year on record for global temperatures. That followed record temperatures for 2015 and 2014. El Niño — a weather pattern characterized by the warming of the Pacific Ocean — played a significant role in this year's unseasonably warm weather. But the release of carbon dioxide and other emissions associated with human activity remain the primary cause of overall warming, scientists say. (Patch)

Thanks, Oregon Zoo:
TRUMP SUPPORTERS LOVE FOX NEWS
A Pew Research Center study on voters' media consumption found that Trump's voters in the 2016 election overwhelmingly said Fox News was their primary source of news. Hillary Clinton voters were a little more diversified, with CNN taking their top spot. (Pew Research Center)

Netflix added more than 5.8 million members from October through December of this year, shattering the company's own expectations of its growth. At the end of 2016, its number of total subscribers around the world was a whopping 93.8 million. (USA Today)
