Pro-Donald Trump Robocall Accuses 3rd-Party Candidate Of Being Gay
Evan McMullin could take Utah from Donald Trump on Election Day.

Donald Trump is in danger of losing Utah on Nov. 8 but not to Hillary Clinton.
Former CIA officer and third-party candidate Evan McMullin has been barnstorming the deeply religious state as a sane, conservative alternative to Trump so voters don't have to pick Clinton to keep him out of office.
As McMullin inches closer to Trump in state polls — and threatens to take six precious electoral votes away from him — Trump's supporters are starting to notice and fire back.

In a robocall that went out this week to some Utah voters, William Johnson — a prominent white nationalist and Trump supporter — accuses McMullin of being gay because his mother is a lesbian.
“Evan has two mommies,” Johnson says in the phone message. “His mother is a lesbian, married to another woman. Evan is OK with that. Indeed Evan supports the Supreme Court ruling legalizing gay marriage.”

“Evan is over 40 years old and is not married and doesn’t even have a girlfriend," Johnson continues. "I believe Evan is a closet homosexual.”

The Trump campaign has denied that it was associated with the call. McMullin, though, said on Twitter the call "is consistent with @realDonaldTrump's bigoted, deceitful campaign and vision for America."
This attack is consistent with @realDonaldTrump's bigoted, deceitful campaign and vision for America. Utahns won't be fooled.

While McMullin's mother is a lesbian, he has been opposed to legal recognition of same-sex marriages.
“As far as my mother’s marriage is concerned, I believe in the sanctity of traditional marriage. It is an important part of my faith,” McMullin said in an interview with The Salt Lake Tribune. “My mother has a different view. That is OK. I love her very much, and she is one of my best friends. She is a wonderful mother. I wish everyone could have a mother like my mom.”
The third-party candidate who has focused most of his resources on Utah is close with Trump in recent state polls. A Salt Lake Tribune poll has him just two points back, while Rasmussen pegs him at three back.
A poll from Emerson has him up two.
