SEE: Flames Shoot From ExxonMobil Plant In Beaumont
The flames sent smoke visible for miles.

BEAUMONT, TX — Flares shooting Thursday afternoon from the ExxonMobil plant in Beaumont sent smoke into the air that was visible for miles throughout the town and even briefly cancelled classes at Lamar University.
The flames were caused by a power outage in the area, Beaumont Police said, and everything was under control.
“There were power outage issues from the brief storm and flaring operations are used to help maintain safety levels,” the department said on its Facebook page. “Plant officials as well as Jefferson County and City of Beaumont officials are monitoring the situation.”
