Shooting at Texas High School Injures One Student; Shooter Dead: Reports
Alpine High School in Alpine, Texas, was the site of a school shooting Thursday morning.

A student was injured when a woman opened fire in a Texas high school Thursday morning, according to local authorities. The shooter, a teenage girl, died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, and a police officer was accidentally hit by friendly fire from a school marshal responding to the situation at Alpine High School in Alpine, Texas.
Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson confirmed the details in an afternoon press conference. He told reporters the shooter was a 14-year-old female freshman student who had just moved to Alpine with her family about six months ago, the Associated Press reported.
A motive for the shooting remains unclear, Dodson said. The victim is in stable condition at the hospital while the officer's injuries are not life-threatening, the sheriff said.
