Syracuse Fire Kills 6, Cause Under Investigation

Fire officials are investigating the cause of a blaze that tore through a Syracuse home early Friday morning, killing six people including four young children.
The fire began early Friday morning, and neighbors reported hearing a loud boom, according to multiple media reports.

As firefighters arrived on the scene and tried to enter the home, the roof of the porch collapsed, according to CNY Central.

When firefighters finally got inside, they found six dead bodies, Linnertz told reporters.
Among the dead: a 7-year-old girl; three boys ages 10, 12 and 13; and two males, ages 33 and 34. A 32-year-old woman made it out of the house alive. A 33-year-old male, who also lives in the house, was not home when the fire started.
Photos of the aftermath from Syracuse.com showed tearful neighbors gathered near the remains of the home, holding flowers and balloons. They showed firefighters sifting through the debris and carrying a bodybag out of a second-floor window.

The property had no code violations, according to Syracuse.com.
