TCU Board Of Trustees: No Concealed Carry On Campus

The vote was made Friday.

Texas Christian University’s Board of Trustees voted Friday to opt out of a new state law allowing firearms to be carried on campus by concealed carry permit holders.

The vote kept in effect existing campus policies prohibiting all guns on campus.

“It was quite clear that no matter which side of the issue each person felt was best, all cared deeply about the safety of the community,” Kathy Cavins-Tull, TCU’s vice chancellor for student affairs, said in a release announcing the vote.

The bill, passed in June by state representatives, allows license-holders to carry firearms on college campuses throughout the state.

Since TCU is a private school, it could vote to opt out and keep their existing policies in place.
