Ted Cruz Website: 'Obama Wants Your Guns'

The message was posted after the President said Tuesday, "This is not a plot to take away everybody's guns."

Following President Obama’s call to expand background checks for gun purchases, increase mental health funding and take other marginal steps to prevent gun violence, Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz’ website showed an image of the president dressed in combat gear with the words “Obama Wants Your Guns” splashed across the top.

The U.S. senator from Texas has branded himself as a strong proponent of gun rights during the Republican campaign.

Shortly after Obama’s speech at the White House, Cruz implied that he would reverse any executive orders Obama issues on gun control if elected.

Cruz is making that abundantly clear on his website, too.

The image of a militarized Obama with the dark warning next to it (a screenshot of which you can see above) was accompanied by a form supporters could fill out to “support the protection of your second amendment rights!”

Obama seemed to see a response like this to his action coming.

“Contrary to claims of some presidential candidates, apparently before this meeting, this is not a plot to take away everybody’s guns,” he said Tuesday.
