Texans Release Quarterback Who Missed Team Flight To Dolphins Game
Houston signed another to make sure it has two quarterbacks on its roster.

Ryan Mallett was released Tuesday by the Houston Texans after he missed the team’s plane and had to fly commercial to Miami for the Dolphins’ game, according to multiple reports.
Mallett blamed traffic for causing him to miss the flight.
Texans coach Bill O’Brien wanted to cut him even before the game, but general manager Rick Smith vetoed the decision because it would leave the team with only one active quarterback on the roster, Brian Hoyer, the Houston Chronicle reported.

The Texans will sign T.J. Yates now that Mallett is released, according to the Chronicle.
Mallett went 1-3 as a starter this year and never even saw the field in Houston’s 44-26 loss to Miami. When he was benched for Brian Hoyer in Week 5, he was seen sulking on the sidelines.
