UPDATE: Tornado Watch For Houston, Airport Delays As Storms Roll Through

The watch was in effect until 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The Houston area ended up missing most of the nasty weather system moving through the Southern plains Tuesday evening.

Flooding was reported in Little Rock, Arkansas, as the storms moved out of Texas and into Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Parts of eastern Texas, including Houston, were under a tornado watch until Tuesday afternoon as a major weather system moved through the eastern part of the state.

The tornado watches were issued Tuesday morning for Harris, Chambers and Liberty counties in Texas and expired at 4 p.m.

George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston also saw delays of up to 30 minutes Tuesday afternoon due to the storms, according to the FAA.

About 23 tornados hit Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska from Monday afternoon into early Tuesday morning, according to preliminary estimates from the Weather Channel.

The largest was a mile-wide tornado in Pampas, Texas, which caused “major damage” Monday evening, the channel said.
