The videos show an officer at the door of an apartment, talking with the group, most of them likely students of the nearby University of Alabama, about what police said was a “loud music call” at 3:19 a.m. early Sunday morning.
Several people are filming the confrontation and some can be heard asking whether one male is being “arrested or detained” and, “What is he under arrest for?”

At some point, the officer grabs the male, dragging him outside as several other officers arrive. Officers appear to tase the student then beat him with a club.
The officers come back to the door and grab two more students, throwing them to the ground as chaos erupts.

“The City of Tuscaloosa and the Tuscaloosa Police Department have been made aware of videos regarding an incident that occurred on November 8, 2015 at 3:19 a.m.. that were a result of a loud music call,” Tuscaloosa Police said in a statement.
“A full investigation of the circumstances that are depicted in these videos will be conducted and all appropriate measures taken to ensure the integrity of the Tuscaloosa Police Department in serving the citizens of Tuscaloosa.”
The tased student did not respond to a request for comment from The Crimson White, Alabama’s student newspaper. The Crimson White reported that the apartment complex was just off of UA’s campus in a popular location for student housing.
The video comes amid heightened tension between police and citizens, where the first reaction of bystanders to a confrontation is to pull out cell phones and film the incident.
Several different angles of the same incident have been posted across social media and shared fervently among UA students and the Tuscaloosa community.
“They had a girl and two boys on the ground,’’ one witness told AL.com. “They were all screaming and everybody was videoing it.“
