WASHINGTON, DC — As House prosecutors work to persuade Senate Republicans to vote to convict former President Trump of inciting the Jan. 6 insurrection on the U.S. Capitol that led to the deaths of five people, federal investigators are sweeping up more of his supporters in a sprawling investigation.

So far, nearly 250 people have been arrested and charged in the riot, Insider reported, and hundreds more could face charges in the attack on the Capitol, which is being replayed in videos to the senators sworn in as jurors in Trump's historic impeachment trial.

The FBI is asking the public's help in identifying additional people who took part in the insurrection.

Rioters assaulted multiple police officers as they forced their way into the building. Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick was killed after being struck in the head by a member of the mob and a rioter, Ashli Babbit, was fatally shot by police while trying to climb through a barricaded door.

Three other deaths have been directly connected to the attack, including a rioter who was trampled while attempting to push through a police line.

Authorities have been able to identify many of the rioters after they were caught on camera without any sort of face coverings. Others were arrested after posting videos and pictures of themselves storming the Capitol on social media.

In some cases, rioters were arrested after being identified by their own friends and family members, according to a report from the Washington Post

Here are a few of the notable arrests:

  • Richard Barnett, 60, was photographed in a widely circulated image sitting inside the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with his feet propped up on a desk. The Arkansas man was even later filmed on video telling news outlets about being inside Pelosi's office and how even left a note on her desk that read "Nancy, Bigo was here, you [expletive]," according to the Department of Justice.
  • Larry Rendall Brock, a 53-year-old man from Texas, was photographed standing in the Senate chamber wearing a "military-style helmet ... a military vest and a patch from his military service," according to court documents. Authorities said Brock was also photographed holding a bundle of plastic handcuffs. Brock’s ex-wife called the FBI after recognizing the Air Force veteran in several photographs taken at the riot.
  • Jacob Anthony Chansley, a 33-year-old from Arizona, was photographed wearing face paint and a horned fur helmet while reportedly walking around the Senate chamber during the riot and even sat in Vice President Mike Pence’s seat on the dais, federal officials said. Dubbed the “QAnon Shaman” for his alleged belief in far-right conspiracy theories, Chansley voluntarily turned himself over to police.
  • Derrick Evans, 35, was recently elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates when authorities said he took part in the riot. Evans livestreamed the incident, shouting “we’re in, we’re in, we’re in ... let's go, keep it moving, baby"” as rioters entered the building. He has since resigned from his position.
  • Adam Christian Johnson, a 36-year-old Florida man, was seen in a widely circulated image of him carrying Pelosi's lectern while waving and smiling at the camera. Authorities said Johnson also shared photos on social media of himself inside the Capitol building during the riot.
  • Eric Gavelek Munchel, 30, is believed by authorities to be the masked person seen in a photograph dressed in tactical clothing including combat boots and a vest while holding several plastic handcuffs. The Justice Department said Munchel surrendered to authorities and a search of his home revealed clothing similar to that worn by the masked person as well as several pairs of plastic handcuffs. Munchel’s mother, Lisa Marie Eisenhart, was also arrested and charged for her alleged participation in the riot, authorities said.
  • Nicholas Rodean, 26, was reportedly photographed carrying around a Trump branded flag inside the Capitol building while wearing his employee badge, authorities said. The employer, Navistar Direct Marketing, fired him after finding out about his allegedly involvement.
  • Jennifer Leigh Ryan, 50, posted on social media about flying to Washington in a private jet and how she was going to storm the Capitol, according to the Justice Department. Authorities said the Texas woman was allegedly caught on film encouraging people to hire her as their realtor as she entered the Capitol.
  • Kevin Seefried, 51, was photographed carrying the Confederate battle flag inside the Capitol, according to authorities. Seefried told investigators the flag was usually on display at his home in Delaware and that he also brought his son with him to the Capitol. The son, Hunter Seefried, was also arrested and charged in connection to the riot.
  • Riley June Williams, 22, was accused by authorities of directing people up a staircase during the riot and stealing a laptop from Pelosi’s office. She attempted to flee from police before eventually turning herself in, authorities said.
