U.S. Constitution Reaches No. 2 Best-Seller Status; Can't Quite Beat New Favorite

A pocket copy of one of the country's founding documents finds itself atop the list sandwiched between two new books.

As Donald Trump's feud with the Muslim family of a fallen American soldier reached its fourth day Monday, a pocket copy of the U.S. Constitution reached as high as No. 2 on Amazon's best-seller list.

Our nation's legal foundation just can't seem to topple Harry Potter.

"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," a script book of a play that just premiered on London's West End, retained the top spot on Amazon's best-seller list. Pre-orders for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," the screenplay of a new movie written by "Potter" author J.K. Rowling, was No. 3.

Pocket copies of the Constitution have soared in popularity since Khizr Khan waved his own copy on stage at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday.

“Let me ask you," Khan asked Trump from the stage. "Have you even read the United States Constitution?”

In a statement released over the weekend, Trump seemed to prove Khan right that he had never read the Constitution. He said Khan, "has no right to stand in front of millions of people and claim I have never read the Constitution."

If Trump had studied up, he'd know that the First Amendment actually gives Khan that exact right.

Plenty of other Americans are apparently brushing up on their constitutional knowledge. This copy from the National Center for Constitutional Studies that runs for just $1 — similar but not identical to the one used by Kahn — was No. 9 on the best-seller list Saturday night and had risen to No. 2 by Monday evening.

It's unclear exactly which copy Kahn used in his emotional speech.
