
The 2016 Masters began Thursday from Augusta National, where 83 of the world's finest golfers have come together for a riveting display of world-class skill and incredible shots on the golf course.
Well, almost.
Ernie Els, who has four major championship wins over his career and two second-place Masters finishes, pulled off quite the improbable feat on his first hole.

Els had a three-foot putt for the Par-4 first hole. He pushed it just to the left, then missed again... and again and again and again and again and again.
His 7- (yes, s-e-v-e-n) putt gave him a 10, the highest score for the hole in Masters history — by two full strokes.

On the other end of the efficiency spectrum, check out Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler from Wednesday.
The two were paired up for the Par 3 Contest. First, Thomas drained a hole-in-one:
