Who Wore It Better? Queen Elizabeth II Or This Little Princess?

A young girl in Kentucky mimicked the elderly queen of England's signature style, and Windsor Castle's response couldn't be more perfect.

FLORENCE, KY — It’s not every little girl across the pond from London who catches Her Majesty’s attention. But it’s not every little girl who so perfectly nails Queen Elizabeth II’s signature style.

Jalayne Sutherland, 2, dressed up as the now-95-year-old queen for Halloween trick-or-treating around Florence, Kentucky — and if her costume didn’t inspire “who wore it better?” conversations, it was an opportunity lost.

The toddler wore a powder blue walking coat and matching hat, a white wig and, of course, pearls. She completed the look by taking Rascal and Jack, the family’s corgis, out with her.

(The queen loves her corgis.)

Fast forward to just after Christmas. Mixed with the family’s mail was a letter from Windsor Castle addressed to Jalayne, news station KSLTV reported. It had a royal stamp.

Her Majesty hadn’t actually penned the letter, but it was close enough, Jalayne’s mom, Katelyn Sutherland, told the news station.

“Her Majesty thought it kind of you to write to her, and The Queen was pleased to see the photograph of your daughter, Jalayne, in her splendid outfit,” the palace wrote.

Sutherland told KSLTV she wasn’t sure Queen Elizabeth would see her note, but sent Her Majesty the photo of her daughter to cheer her up after reading she hadn’t been feeling well.

For now, the letter is on display in the Sutherland family living room.
