Carter Page, Former Trump Aide, To Plead The 5th In Russia Probe: Politico

Carter Page worked on the Trump campaign but stopped working for the president when reports tied him to Moscow.

WASHINGTON, DC — Former Trump campaign staffer Carter Page will plead the Fifth and refuse to answer any questions in the ongoing Russia investigation, according to a report from Politico Tuesday night.

Page served as a foreign policy adviser to the president during the campaign, but he was forced to leave his position after reports suggested he had ties to the Kremlin and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump once cited Page as one of the people shaping his foreign policy thinking, but after he left the campaign officials said they had never met. Reports also suggest that Page has been a subject of FBI surveillance for years. It's not clear yet if the Senate Intelligence Committee will subpoena Page and force him to testify. According to Politico, the committee has sought documents and testimony from multiple members of Trump's campaign team in an effort to determine the level of connection between the candidate and Russia. Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr. and the president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, have both already testified before the committee.
