Joe Biden Sends Sweet Message To Julia Louis-Dreyfus

The former vice president shared a kindhearted message with the woman who plays a vice president on TV.

WASHINGTON, DC — As news spread that Julia Louis-Dreyfus, star of "Veep" and "Seinfeld," has been diagnosed with breast cancer, fans and coworkers began pouring out the love and support for the much-adored comedian. One fan, who shares a rare connection with the Emmy-winning actress, sent a particularly noteworthy show of support on Twitter.

"We Veeps stick together," wrote former Vice President Joe Biden. "Jill and I, and all of the Bidens, are with you, Julia." (For more information on this and other political stories, subscribe to the White House Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

Louis-Dreyfus played the first woman vice president Selina Meyer, on the show "Veep," and she and Biden appeared together in a video sketch for the 2014 White House Correspondents' Dinner. In the video, the two joined forces as veep and pseudo-veep to sneak into the oval office, steal ice cream from the White House kitchen and chat with then-House Speaker John Boehner.

In his tweet of support for Louis-Dreyfus, Biden included a photo from their appearance together in the sketch:

"The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union," Louis-Dreyfus wrote in the announcement of her illness on Twitter. "The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let's fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality."
