North Miami Water Main Breaks: City Residents Issued 'Boil Water' Ordinance

As a precaution, city officials told North Miami residents to boil their water after the incident.

NORTH MIAMI — North Miami residents must boil their water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes, city officials said Wednesday.

The ordinance was issued after a series of water main breaks in the city. The "boil water" ordinance is a precautionary measure; no contamination of the water has yet been confirmed.

The water boiling notice will stay in effect until tests determine that the city's water is safe to drink. It applies to all City of North Miami Water Utility customers.
