It began with a question.

“Do you continue to pledge whoever the Republican nominee is?” CNN moderator Anderson Cooper asked Donald Trump during a televised town hall in Milwaukee in 2016.

“No,” said Trump. “I don’t anymore.”

His reason?

“I have been treated very unfairly,” he stated, citing Mitt Romney’s efforts to campaign against him as an example of mistreatment. “I think by — basically — the RNC, the Republican party, the establishment.”

Cooper also questioned Trump on the matter of his then-campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, who had been charged with simple battery of former Breitbart News reporter Michelle Fields. Fields claimed in a March 10 Breitbart article that the aforementioned campaign manager grabbed her “tightly by the arm and yanked [her] down,” that she had nearly fallen to the ground before maintaining her balance.

“I was shaken,” she said.

Trump accused Fields of fabricating the story when she first presented her accusation, with Lewandowski claiming that he had never met Fields, let alone touched her. But video footage revealed that Lewandowski did grab Fields’ arm, but the reporter had not been pulled to the ground.

Bill Clinton on Smoking Marijuana: “I Didn’t Inhale”

A singular statement echoes from a quarter-century ago: “I didn’t inhale.”

The year is 1992, and Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton is the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination. A televised Sunday interview found Clinton presented with a question as to whether he had ever violated international law. The future 42nd president of the United States affirmed that he had experimented with marijuana “a time or two.”

He didn’t like it, he explained. “I didn’t inhale, and I didn’t try it again.”

"The Tonight Show" host Johnny Carson joked at the time, “That’s the trouble with the Democrats; even when they do something wrong, they don’t do it right.”
