Washington Post Exclusive Details Questionable White House Contacts With FBI

The Washington Post has an exclusive about questionable contacts between the Trump administration and the intelligence community aimed at discrediting news reports about the president's senior associates and their ties to Russia.

The administration has enlisted senior members of the intelligence community and Congress in efforts to counter the news stories about Russian ties, a politically charged issue that the Post points out has been under investigation by the FBI as well as lawmakers now defending the White House.

The article was published online late Friday and appears in Saturday's print editions.

The Post's Greg Miller and Adam Entous report the contacts could be perceived as threatening the independence of U.S. spy agencies that are supposed to remain insulated from partisan issues, as well as undercutting the credibility of ongoing congressional probes.
