Watch the president join the senate candidate he endorsed for the Alabama race for the Senate.

HUNTSVILLE, AL — President Trump spoke at a rally for Alabama Senator and candidate Luther Strange on Friday night. You can watch a live stream of the event here. Trump joined Strange on stage a little after 8 p.m. Eastern, 7 p.m. local time.
"Will be in Alabama tonight," Trump tweeted Friday morning. "Luther Strange has gained mightily since my endorsement, but will be very close. He loves Alabama, and so do I!" When Strange took the stage, he donned a Make America Great Again hat. He introduced the president to the crowd, and Trump walked out to the tune of "Sweet Home Alabama." The crowd cheered "USA! USA!" as Trump walked out to the lectern.

"I am thrilled to be here with the really great person that I've gotten to know, Luther Strange," Trump said.
Trump said that Strange will "taking over for" Jeff Sessions, who he said is doing a "great job." Just a few months back, Trump repeatedly demeaned Sessions in public, calling him "beleaguered."

He spoke about his work at the United Nations, where he said he was focused on protecting America's interests, not "global interests." Other nations, he said, are going to have to look out for themselves.
"We’re gonna be like your football teams: We’re going to win all the time," he said.
On the topic of North Korea, Trump rolled out his new nickname for leader Kim Jong-un to a cheering crowd.
"We can't have mad men out there shooting rockets all over the place," he said. "By the way, Rocket Man should've been handled a long time ago."
At one point, the crowd started cheering "Lock her up," referring to Hillary Clinton. Trump said, "You're going to have to talk to Jeff Sessions about that."
Later, Trump called White House Chief of Staff John Kelly to the stage, praising him for being a four-star general. Trump indicated for Kelly to take the lectern and speak, but Kelly declined.
The president has backed Strange over his opponent in the runoff election, former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore. But Moore, who was suspended after refusing to assent to the Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage, has picked up the lead in the special election from many who view him as the outsider candidate. Strange has temporarily assumed the Senate seat previously held by now-Attorney General Session in the interim period before the special election.
Trump said Strange has gotten a "bum rap" because he's already in the Senate. However, Trump said he would support Moore if he wins the runoff, though he thinks he will have a tougher time in the special election.
The rally was held at the Von Braun Center. Top aide Stephen Miller, Communications Director Hope Hicks and Kelly joined Trump for the trip. A little after 5 p.m., he tweeted, "Heading to Alabama now, big crowd!"
