The president will meet with energy sector workers Wednesday in Bismarck, North Dakota.

BISMARCK, ND — President Trump will deliver remarks at a tax reform event in North Dakota Wednesday at 4 p.m. Eastern, 3 local time. Watch the remarks live on Patch below.

Trump and the Republican Party hope to pass a massive tax reform bill by the end of this year. The details of the plan are not yet clear, though the vision includes a reduction in tax rates, with much of the benefit for high-income earners and businesses. "Will be going to North Dakota today to discuss tax reform and tax cuts," Trump tweeted Wednesday morning. "We are the highest taxed nation in the world - that will change." However, this statement — that the United States is the "highest-taxed nation" — is false. The United States' citizens and businesses carry a much lower tax burden than those of many other wealthy countries.

“We’re excited to welcome President Trump to North Dakota and look forward to discussing how tax reform can benefit workers, farmers, ranchers, businesses and families across our state and nation,” North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum said in a statement. “The U.S. tax code is bloated, cumbersome and long overdue for reform. Fortunately, President Trump recognizes that he and this Congress have a once-in-a-generation chance to simplify the tax code and cut taxes in a way that allows American workers and families to keep more of their hard-earned income.
