WASHINGTON, DC — White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will deliver a briefing for reporters at 2 p.m. Eastern.
Early on Friday, the Trump administration announced that it would be expanding exemptions for employers who object to buying health insurance that covers birth control. Under the Affordable Care Act, the Obama administration decided that all employers who offer insurance, except for explicitly religious institutions, would have to provide contraception free of charge. In a famous case brought by Hobby Lobby, the Supreme Court expanded these exemptions to "closely held" corporations. Sanders will likely face questions about the president's mysterious comments Thursday night. At a meeting with military leaders, Trump told the press it was the "calm before the storm." Nobody seemed to know what he meant, and the president did not elaborate.
