ESPN Host Who Called Trump A White Supremacist Should Be Fired, Sarah Huckabee Sanders Says
The White House press secretary took a stand against the host on Wednesday, calling the host's comments "outrageous."

WASHINGTON, DC — White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called Jemele Hill's recent comments about President Trump "outrageous" on Wednesday, adding that she thought the ESPN host's remarks were a "fireable offense."
"Donald Trump is a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists," Hill tweeted on Monday. "Trump is the most ignorant, offensive president of my lifetime. His rise is a direct result of white supremacy. Period."
ESPN rejected the comments, saying in a statement, "We have addressed this with Jemele and she recognizes her actions were inappropriate.” (For more information on this and other political stories, subscribe to the White House Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

Sanders discussed the incident after a reporter raised the issue at the Wednesday press briefing. Earlier in the day, the president met with Republican Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina. Scott had criticized the president's response to the violence at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. Sanders did not give many details about the discussion.
