Courtney covered Tri-Valley and Santa Cruz County for Patch. She publishes recipes in her weekly Patch column, Cooking with Courtney, and at feedthesoulblog.com.

She was born and raised near Los Angeles and holds degrees from the University of Hawai`i at Manoa, where she fell in love with journalism as an editor of her college newspaper. Courtney went on to report for Honolulu Civil Beat, The Washington Post, Napa Valley Register and USC Center for Health Journalism.
