At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs.
So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license to inject beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them.
In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that our beliefs are on the record will cause us to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.
<strong>Politics </strong>
I tend to vote about 50/50 for either party. I'm one of those moderates that claims "socially liberal and fiscally conservative."
<strong>Religion</strong>
I am Jewish. I converted several years ago.
<strong>Free Time</strong>
I have free time, sometimes.
I love vegetable gardening and horseback riding (specifically dressage, jumping and trail riding).
I'm pretty outdoorsy, too, though I had to give up my chickens because I moved into a neighborhood with an HOA.
I walk my two dogs nearly every morning. They are a pit bull and a border collie so they need to be walked or they'll drive me crazy.
<strong>Family Life</strong>
Family is extremely important to me. I'm the second oldest of seven children and my husband is the middle child of three children. If I'm out of town for any reason, it's because we're seeing family.
I'm married to Henry Ryan Street, a Coastguardsman. He works downtown Charleston.
