But we don’t realize that we need to connect with the potential that exists within our minds to make it happen. Through Buddhist meditation practices we have the profound tools to transform into the person we wish to be - confident, kind, loving, peaceful, happy and wise. In this talk, guest teacher Kadam Morten, Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center New York City for over 30 years, will explore how we can use Buddhist meditation to connect to the depth within our mind and become the person we wish to be.

We will be keeping silence during this retreat.
When the turbulence of distracting thoughts subsides, and our mind becomes still, a deep happiness and contentment arises naturally from within. This feeling of contentment and well-being helps us to cope with the busyness and difficulties of daily life. So much of the stress and tension we normally experience comes from our mind, and many of the problems we experience are caused or aggravated by this stress. Through training in concentration in meditation, we can experience a calm, spacious feeling in the mind, and many of our usual problems will fall away. In this retreat we will gain experience to tame our own personal meditation obstacles by exploring ancient Buddhist wisdom solutions. No experience necessary, everyone is welcome.&nbsp;

These drop-in classes are designed to help children develop a peaceful, positive state of mind by listening to and applying Buddha’s simple compassionate teachings and meditations. Each week there is a short meditation, a brief interactive lesson, chanted prayers, and a creative activity. We emphasize kindness to others and the cultivation of a happy heart. 
Parents and/or guardians are welcome to attend class with their child or attend our adult Sunday Meditations for World Peace Class that takes place at the same time.
The class is most appropriate for children ages 4-15.
