The two girls were part of a family reunion at a Utah campsite when they rode their ATVs to go explore and took the dog along.

BEAVER COUNTY, UT — Two young girls camping in the Utah mountains as part of a family reunion were hospitalized after the pair was struck by lightning but things could have been worse had the family dog not gotten help.
The Beaver County Sheriff's office said the two girls were riding ATVs and had gotten off to look around the area with the family dog. As the two walked back to get on the ATV, they were struck by lightning, the sheriff's office said.
At this point the family dog returned to camp and alerted the family that something had happened, the sheriff's office said. The dog then led the family to the site where the girls were found on the ground unconscious.
