Each Friday evening, Church Street businesses stay open late for holiday shopping, while the Marketplace comes alive with a new festive activation each week, from cozy experiences and local tastings to family fun. Stroll beneath the lights, listen to holiday tunes on the Marketplace speakers, grab a warm drink, and find the perfect gifts for everyone on your list. 

Friday, December 19 | 4-8pm: Light Up the Night The days might be getting darker, but the Marketplace is ready to light up the night with festive cheer! Join RunVermont for a Fun Run kicking off at 5:30pm. Dress in your brightest gear and fill the street with color. Open to all ages. Register here. 
Then stick around for the Light Parade at 6 PM, featuring a fleet of decorated trucks showing off their holiday sparkle. From SD Ireland’s glowing cement mixer and Milton Rental’s equipment truck to Troy’s Toy Drive’s festive Ridgeline, Burlington PD’s Emergency Response Vehicle, and more!

Celebrate the magic of the season with Solaris Vocal Ensemble and the Skylark String Quartet, an acclaimed contemporary string ensemble joining as guest artists for this year’s Holiday Cheer concerts! At the heart of the program is Randol Alan Bass’s brilliant Feast of Carols—a dazzling centerpiece for strings, oboe, percussion, and piano. The concerts also feature two world premieres by Solaris’ Composer-in-Residence, Dr. James Stewart, including his stunning new arrangement of I Wonder as I Wander. The evening opens with Healy Willan’s jubilant Hodie, Christus Natus Est and unfolds into a luminous journey of sound—from John Trotta’s mystical setting of O Nata Lux and Toby Young’s radiant O Be Joyful to the ethereal beauty of Brent Pierce’s How Still He Rests, where oboe and wind chimes intertwine with voices. The celebration concludes with the rhythmic energy of the Nigerian carol Betelehemu and a sparkling, joy-filled rendition of Jingle Bells performed by Solaris’s own music educators. Join us for a concert filled with brilliance, warmth, and wonder—where ancient carols and new creations unite to bring Holiday Cheer to all.
SKYLARK is an innovative contemporary string ensemble based in northern Vermont. With decades of experience in the professional music community, Skylark's sound and repertoire challenge the boundaries between classical, folk and modern idioms, creating inspired original works for all audiences. Influenced by the Nordic, Celtic and American regions, Skylark’s music is melody-driven with unique energy, irresistible flair and undeniable beauty.

We’ll explore globally-inspired comfort foods, reimagined with wholesome ingredients, bold flavors, and a focus on how good food feels. These are meals meant to satisfy, energize, and bring people together.
 We’ll cook, share, and gather around the table to enjoy our feast—because comfort food should love you right back. Perfect for your fresh start that still wants a warm hug.
These recipes are naturally gluten-free, and some are vegetarian. Please disclose all allergies and dietary restrictions in the ticket registration. Please note we are not an allergen free facility.

About the Instructor:
Chef Ariel Voorhees believes that sharing food is the best way for people to connect. Through her personal chef service, Gather Round Chef Service, she cooks custom meals in clients' homes to help busy families connect each night over a delicious homemade dinner. And with 14 years of classroom teaching experience, Chef Ariel absolutely loves teaching folks how to share delicious food with their loved ones. As a lifelong student of food cultures from around the world, she finds joy in helping others bring new flavors into their own homes.
 Working with Ariel was an incredible delight — not only did she inspire creativity, curiosity, and owning my love for food, but she also instilled a quiet confidence in me that allows me to now whip up something to eat based on ingredients I have. Highly recommend as a cooking instructor!
