Mother accused of drug use as her infant drowns in bathtub (shorenewsnetwork.com) — Police are searching for a woman wanted on manslaughter and related charges after her three-month-old daughter drowned in a Burlington apartment bathtub on Main Street. Investigators say drugs were present in the home and in the mother’s system, and they’re asking Burlington-area residents to contact CUSI or local police with any information on her whereabouts.
   

2. Burlington Main Street businesses bounce back after tough construction year (wcax.com) — Main Street businesses in downtown Burlington say the end of construction and a snowy holiday season have finally brought customers back after a tough year of road and sidewalk closures. Shop owners describe near-existential worries over lost foot traffic but credit strong community support and reopened streets for a late-fall rebound. Many are now optimistic heading into 2026.
   

3. How to properly sort your holiday trash and recycling as the holiday season winds down (wcax.com) — As you dig out from holiday clutter in the Burlington area, local waste experts are urging careful sorting of trash, recycling, and especially batteries to prevent fires and injuries. The Chittenden Solid Waste District and Casella Waste Systems stress that cardboard, plain wrapping paper, and rinsed containers can be recycled, while lithium-ion batteries and metallic gift wrap need special handling or the trash.
