• Domestic assault arrest made at Hartford school (vnews.com) — Police arrested a Lebanon, N.H., man without incident at Dothan Brook School in Hartford on an outstanding warrant for second-degree aggravated domestic assault. Hartford officers coordinated the arrest after a tip he’d be at the Route 5 elementary school, which serves 241 pre-K through fifth graders. The man was held without bail at Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield.

• Windsor home damaged by fire, cause under investigation (vnews.com) — Hartford firefighters were among several Upper Valley crews who helped knock down a major house fire on Route 44 in Windsor, where a three-bedroom home suffered heavy smoke and water damage. No residents were hurt, but the steep, snowy driveway caused slips for firefighters, and officials are still investigating the cause while assessing whether the home can be salvaged.
   

• Mother of overdose victim criticizes sentence (vnews.com) — A Hartford woman’s fatal overdose is at the center of an emotional Windsor County sentencing, where her mother condemned what she sees as an overly lenient plea deal. The woman who sold the drugs received a largely suspended one-to-five-year sentence with probation, as the judge and attorneys emphasized both accountability and her ongoing recovery efforts.
