Human Trafficking Tips, Narcotics Seized In VA Crime Crackdown

Police agencies statewide recently turned up tips on human trafficking cases, recovered firearms and seized nearly $500,000 in drugs.

RICHMOND, VA — A recent focus on crime across the state by the Virginia State Police and other law enforcement agencies led to tips on human trafficking cases, as well as the recovery of firearms and the seizure of nearly $500,000 in drugs.

State police said in a news release that between Oct. 8 and Oct. 14 that the sting, in partnership with supporting federal and local agencies, led to the recovery of firearms, the seizure of narcotics, the seizure of U.S. currency, and the investigation of multiple crimes throughout the Commonwealth.

Two firearms were recovered, valued at $1,000.

Officials seized narcotics that totaled to 63.3 pounds, with a street value of $495,822.

  • Cocaine: 1.1 pounds
  • Crack cocaine 1.4 ounces
  • Marijuana: 55.6 pounds
  • Heroin: 10.2 ounces
  • Methamphetamine: 5 pounds
  • Fentanyl: 13.3 ounces
  • THC Vapes: 642

Investigators also received seven gaming-related tips, for a total of 1,905 total to date.

Sixteen new human trafficking tips received, for a total of 1,284 to date this year.

  • Victims identified and offered services: 75
