St. Patrick's Day Food And Drink Deals, Freebies At VA Restaurants

VIRGINIA — For some folks, chugging beer while wearing green is the best way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. For others, especially Virginia families, it might mean visiting an area restaurant to take advantage of special menu items and deals in celebration of all things Irish.

The March 17 holiday observes the death of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. St. Patrick's Day has evolved into a celebration of Irish culture with parades, special foods, music, dancing, drinking and a whole lot of green.

The folks at RetailMeNot have rounded up special menu items and deals at restaurants in Virginia that you can check out for the holiday.

• Dairy Queen: Order the new Under the Rainbow Shake or the returning Mint Brownie Blizzard.
• Dog Haus: Through March, Dog Haus is selling a Corned Beef and Cabbage Sausage served on a grilled King’s Hawaiian roll. For each purchase, Dog Haus is donating $1 to No Kid Hungry.
• Kona Grill: Through March 17, Kona Grill customers can get $3 specials on Green Beer, Sake and Seltzer, in addition to $6 Corned Beef Sliders.

You’ll find Irish Egg Rolls, featuring egg rolls stuffed with corned beef, sauerkraut, cheese and dipping sauce for $11.99 and Irish Breakfast and Green Tea shots for $5. And the classic Guinness, a 20-ounce draft, is $5.99.
• Potbelly: Use the code AVOCADO to get free avocado added to all sandwiches through March 19. This deal is available both online and through the app.
• Popeye’s: Try Popeye’s new shrimp items for St. Patrick’s Day. Participating stores are offering a $6 deal for eight pieces of shrimp, a regular side, a biscuit and sauce through May 7.
