VA Ranks High In Places To Raise A Family, Study Says
Check out where Virginia lands in a new analysis of the best places to raise a family in the U.S.
Virginia is considered among the best places in the country to raise a family, according to Consumer Affairs. The state ranks No. 8 in the country, joining a top 10 dominated by the East Coast.
"Moving isn’t just about finding the perfect backyard or dream kitchen," Consumer Affairs wrote. "It’s also about identifying the best possible fit for your family — whether you have a bustling household of five, a baby on the way or just a dog who really wants a human sibling."
The study analyzes the data on affordability, safety, education, health care and quality of life to determine which states are the most family-friendly.

Virginia ranks No. 2 in the country for low additional rent costs, with the difference in cost between a one- and two-bedroom only coming in at about $35 monthly, Consumer Affairs found.
The state also ranks No. 7 for public education and No. 4 for air quality. However, Virginia was knocked for its lack of state and national parks per capita, coming in at No. 43.
