VA's Least Healthy Menu Item: Here's Where To Find It

A health and nutrition website offers its opinion on the most unwholesome menu options in all 50 states. Here's where to find the one in VA.

VIRGINIA — You might think that a platter of country ham or barbecue would serve as Virginia's unhealthiest menu item. You'd be wrong.

According to the Eat This, Not That website, the state's worst dietary choice is Virginia's own Pork Belly Sub at Something Different in Urbanna.

Eat This, Not That is a blog consisting of doctors, nutritionists, chefs, personal trainers and dietitians who post on food, nutrition, dieting, weight loss and other health topics.

"Virginia's Something Different fries almost all of their food in beef tallow," the food blog said. "The eatery touts their 'fine Neanderthal cuisine' and proudly only serves a single small green salad that comes in three sizes. The Pork Belly Sub sounds especially decadent."

  • Pork belly sub: Dry rubbed, slow smoked and finished on the grill, topped with pickled spinach, red onions and sweet BBQ sauce
  • Dan’s Famous Applechain: An all beef hot dog nestled down in our Snuggle Bun. Layered with Ann’s Apple butter and mustard
  • Southern Comfort: Pimento cheese, brisket, country ham, and pickles grilled to a golden brown
  • Hot brown with crab: Open-faced bun with turkey or crab and country ham topped with asiago mornay, garnished with tomato & toasted to a golden brown
