Here are the top stories in and around Annandale:

1. A fight at Annandale High School was captured on video, which shows a BB gun falling to the ground during the exchange. The gun was confiscated by a staff member, and no students or staff were threatened. Fairfax County Police Department and the school administration are investigating the incident, and the student found in possession of the BB gun will be disciplined. (ABC NEWS 4)
2. The Fairfax County Department of Transportation has developed a preliminary list of pedestrian safety projects that are recommended for funding, which includes crosswalk improvements, adding sidewalks, and pedestrian refuge islands. The full list of projects will be presented to the Board of Supervisors for approval in the fall, and the board is seeking a total of $100 million for pedestrian improvements. The county will reapply for a federal Safe Streets and Roads for All grant after it was rejected recently. (Annandale Today)
3. The Alexandria City Council has unanimously approved Inova Health System's proposal to build a medical campus at the WestEnd Town Center, which will include an acute-care hospital, cancer center, and specialty care center. Inova Health System plans to create a healing environment for its patients and families with private patient rooms and a large emergency room. The medical campus is expected to open in 2028, and it will replace the current Inova Alexandria Hospital on Seminary Road. (Annandale Today)
