Annandale Star Athlete Shines As Basketball Co-Captain, IB Student

ANNANDALE, VA — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

I am his high school varsity basketball head coach.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Andrew Nields is a co-captain for the Annandale Boys' Basketball team. He continues to impress our coaching staff with his leadership and grit. This is one of the many reasons why he will play college basketball next year for Catholic University of America. Andrew is an exemplary student athlete. He has a 4.28 grade point average out of a 4.0 point scale. He always seeks to be challenged. This is why he is enrolled in numerous International Baccalaureate (IB) courses. IB courses challenge students' thought processes and prepares student for the rigors of college-level courses. His demanding academic course load is why he was selected to Annandale High School's National English and Math Societies. He is waiting for his selection to the National Honor Society. Andrew will facilitate the Annandale boys basketball clinics throughout the 2022-23 season. These clinics will demonstrate younger child fundamentals and the right way to play basketball. He will also facilitate the Readers Are Leaders campaign this season as well.
