Annandale Star Athlete Volunteers For Food Bank, Inspires Peers

ANNANDALE, VA — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Sam Dailey personifies energy, grit, and integrity as an Annandale Atom varsity boys' basketball co-captain. His dedication to our basketball team and community inspires his peers and our coaching staff. When our high school interviews for varsity head coach positions, he participates in interview panels to receive valuable student-athlete input. Sam is more than a student-athlete. He has a 3.79 grade point average on 4.0 grade scale. He volunteers for the Arlington Food Assistance Center. He is a member of the National English Honor Society, National Business Honor Society, and the Atoms for Humanity group. Currently he is waiting membership for the National Honor Society. He will be an enthusiastic leader when the Annandale Atoms Boys Basketball conducts clinics with our feeding schools and Annandale-based recreation basketball leagues. When we conduct our Readers are Leaders campaign, he will facilitate his teammates to teach younger students the values of reading. He values his community, academics, and playing basketball for the Annandale Atoms.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

Sam Dailey plans to play college basketball. Sam is never content. He always seeks input on how to improve. He is frankly a winner.
