Fairfax County Investigators Make Arrest In Annandale House Fire

A 27-year-old man was charged with starting a house fire in Annandale that caused more than $460,000 in damage, the fire department said.

ANNANDALE, VA — A 27-year-old man was charged with starting a house fire in Annandale that caused more than $460,000 in damage, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.

Clinton James Hall was charged with one count of burning or destroying a building or structure, the fire department said Wednesday. Officials said investigators determined the fire "was incendiary in nature and started on the porch."

Shortly before midnight on Thursday, April 27, Fairfax County fire units were dispatched to a house fire in the 4900 block of Bristow Drive in Annandale. When they arrived, fire was showing from three sides of the three-story, single-family home.

Two residents and a dog were home at the time of the fire. The dog alerted the residents, and they all got out of the house before firefighters arrived, according to the fire department. The smoke alarms in the home were working and went off after the fire was discovered by the residents.

The two residents and the dog were displaced because of the fire. The residents accepted assistance from the Red Cross, according to the fire department.
