Multiple Volunteers Participate In Weekend Food for Kids Packing
Elementary Students Also Receive New Clothing

Assistance League of Northern Virginia’s Weekend Food for Kids event in April was another smooth operation, with about 60 volunteers from Assistance League, Dominion Energy, Didlake, and the community who packed 1720 bags of food for six schools in Fairfax and Prince William counties in about one hour. This feel-good event was enhanced by the return of the DJ, so everyone could pack while enjoying a medley of oldies. The nonprofit also provided some emergency grocery gift cards to those six schools and grocery cards to a seventh school.
As it has done several times this year, Assistance League also delivered new clothing items to seven schools in April, based on their specific requests. The 255 items included socks, underwear, hoodies, sweatpants, leggings, shorts, and T-shirts. The focus for the clothing distribution in May will be warm-weather items, such as shorts and short-sleeve shirts
