• Updated Urban Design Guidelines Endorsed for Community Revitalization Districts and Areas (fairfaxcounty.gov) — Annandale is directly affected by newly updated Fairfax County urban design guidelines that will shape future redevelopment in its Commercial Revitalization District. The county has also created Annandale-specific companion guidelines covering streetscapes, parks, buildings, and pedestrian access. These nonbinding standards aim to improve walkability, equity, and public spaces in revitalizing areas.
   

• ICE raids in Hybla Valley condemned at candlelight vigil (ffxnow.com) — Recent ICE detentions in Fairfax County include arrests in Annandale and Alexandria, drawing concern from local advocates. A Hybla Valley vigil on Richmond Highway condemned recent apprehensions and urged immigrant residents to seek legal resources. Officials and organizers argue many detainees are peaceful community members and question rising local immigration enforcement.
