23-Year-Old Man Used Air Pistol To Shoot 2 People From Apartment Window: Police
Man faces weapons charges for using an air pistol to shoot two people from an Arlington Village apartment window, according to police.

ARLINGTON, VA — A 23-year-old Arlington man is facing multiple weapons charges for using an air pistol to shoot at two people from an Arlington Village apartment early Thursday morning, according to authorities.
Officers responded around 4:39 a.m. for the report of a shooting in the 1200 block of South Courthouse Road.
"Upon arrival, officers were flagged down by an adult male victim who had been struck by a projectile," according to the incident report. "Officers subsequently located a second adult male victim who was struck by a projectile while outside his vehicle. Both victims sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention. Additionally, three parked vehicles were also struck and damaged by projectiles."

After determining that the projectiles had come from an apartment window, investigators located the apartment, made entry and arrested the suspect, who was identified as Donis Manuel Chan Ajtum of Arlington, according to police
While executing a search warrant, officers recovered an air pistol and CO2 cartridges from the apartment, according to police. They also discovered that Chan Ajtum was in possession of fake identification.

Chan Ajtum was charged with reckless handing of a firearm, two counts of assault and battery, two counts of shooting a missile at occupied vehicles, three counts of destruction of property, possession of fake identification and fraudulent use of identification, according to police. He was then held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility.
Chan Ajtum was arraigned Friday morning in Arlington General District Court and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 22, according to court documents. He remains in custody.
The two shooting a missile at occupied vehicles charges are Class 4 felonies. If convicted on these charges, Chan Ajtum faces a possible sentence of two to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000, under the Virginia Code. The remaining charges are all misdemeanors.
