ARLINGTON, VA — On Friday afternoon, Arlington County Police identified the man killed during an officer-involved shooting Tuesday near the entrance to the Rosslyn Metro Station as 27-year-old Cedric Butler of no fixed address. Police did not release the victim’s name until his next of kin had been notified.

ACPD officers responded around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday for the report of a suspicious person at a business in the 1500 block of Wilson Blvd. The officers determined that a man had started a conversation with employees. While they were talking, the man pulled a knife out of his pocket and then left the business, according to police.

The officers located a man matching the suspect’s description on the top floor of the Metro station. The man was later identified as Butler. When the officers tried to detain him, Butler pulled out a knife and a physical altercation started, according to the incident report.
