Threats With Box Cutter In Crystal City Lead To Assault Charge: Police
A Maryland man is facing an attempted malicious wounding charge after he threatened others with a box cutter, according to police.
ARLINGTON, VA — A Maryland man is facing an attempted malicious wounding charge after he threatened employees of a Crystal City business on Christmas Eve, according to Arlington County Police.
Officers responded around 11 p.m. to a business in the 400 block of 23rd Street South to investigate the report of an assault with a weapon. They determined that a man with a box cutter threatened the male victim, according to the incident report. The victim ran into a nearby business but the man followed him inside. When he was confronted by employees, the man left the scene.
After broadcasting a lookout, the officers found the suspect nearby and took him into custody, according to the report. During the arrest, the officers recovered a box cutter.

Kyle Kenion, 37, of Landover, Maryland, was arrested and charged with attempted malicious wounding and misdemeanor assault and battery, according to the incident report.

Kenion was arraigned on Monday morning in Arlington General District Court and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 9, 2026, according to court records.
The attempted malicious wounding charge is a Class 5 felony. If Kenion is convicted on this charge, he faces a potential sentence of one to 10 years in prison or up to 12 months in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,500, under the Code of Virginia.
